The millets processing unit will be installed at Mitlakatte, Davanagere (outskirts). The unit size is 3 to 5 qtls per hour. The actual working however per day is 7-8 hours, however we have taken 5 hours per day due to power problems. The main strength of our federation is millets, we have abundant quantity of millet for processing. Hence we will be installing 3 de-stoner, 2 de-huller of different make & capacity for cleaning and quick supply of the millet grains.
In addition to the above said processing unit, a millets collection center will be established at Hosadurga, APMC yard, This collection center is quite useful because Hosadurga taluk is one of the potential grower of millets. It will be easy for the farmers to sell the millets produce at the collection center. In addition to the collection center the field representatives will collect the millets from villages on routine basis.

Davanagere district has irrigation potential in Cannagiri, Honnali, Davanagere & Harihara taluks, hence paddy is cultivated abundantly. In order to make use of this potential the federation is promoting organic cultivation of sonamasuripaddy. Since there are many rice processing (hulling) units in the area the federation has decided to make use of these units on outsource basis for hulling paddy. This organic rice will be sold through won out let at Davanager and Chitradurga.

The cultivation of pulses and oilseeds are the major crops of Davanager and Chitradurag districts. Both the district has full potential and suitable soil & climatic conditions for growing pulses and oilseeds. The major pulses grown are red gram (Thogari), horse gram (hurli),Hesaru (Mung) and, Bengal gram (Kadle). The processing unit will be installed at Mitlakatte, Davanagere.

As stated above the Davanagere district has irrigation potential in Channagiri, Honnali, Davanagere & Harihara taluks and as such cultivating lot of vegetables like Bende, Beans, Avare, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Green leaf vegetables (soppu) etc. in order to make use of the available resources more effectively and efficiently a vegetable processing unit will be operated at Rameswara village in Honnalitaluk. The organically grown vegetables will be procured from farmers, washed with clean water manually, processed, packed in containers and send to market places like Davanager, Chitradurga and other District/taluk places. These produce will also be sold through federations outlets.

Davanagere district has irrigation potential in Channagiri, Honnali, Davanagere & Harihara taluks and Banana is cultivated as pure crop in many areas organically. The Channagiri and Honnalitaluk are more potential in cultivation of Banana and Mango crops. Whereas in Holalkere, Hosadurga, Chitradurga and Davanageretaluk papaya is cultivated abundantly by the farmers associations. The same will be procured from the door step of the farm, will be brought to the processing center at Mitlakatte, Davanagere. The fruits procured will be cleaned and kept in small ripening chamber for the purpose of ripening. The ripened fruits will be graded, packed in crates and send to outlets and other market places.

The processing units are located at Mittlakatte, Davanagere for all the crops except vegetables which is at Rameswara, in Honnalitaluk. The vegetables will be sent to marketing places directly in order to avoid transportation cost and time loss. All other produce and fruits will be processed and sent from Mitlakatte. It will be easy for monitoring as the president and CEO are stationed at Davanagere only.

The organic farming area will be certified by the certifying agency by farmers groups. Steps will be taken to obtain certification to our processing unit produce by ADITI Organic certifying agency.
All the nutritive value of the contents will be displayed on the cover as per the statutory requirement after duly testing and in consultation with the food and nutrition experts of UAS, GKVK, Bengaluru.

The training to the federation President &directors was conducted at University of agricultural science, GKVK, Bengaluru. Training to the member farmers is under way at their villages by subject matter specialists. Hence adequate training as to the production, processing and marketing of the produce is given. This is evident from the turnover we have done so for to the tune of Rs. 45lacs.

The awareness has percolated among the farmers to cultivate more of millets, pulses, paddy, vegetable &fruits organically, as there is very good price and the same is assured by the federation. The farmers are taking up millets cultivation in small holdings as it is self-sustainable. The consumer is ready to accept the organic produce if made available in their vicinity.
